Adam Smith Program

Dan Klein serves as the Director of The Adam Smith Program at GMU Economics. The Adam Smith Program explores the moral and economic philosophy of Smith and related thinkers, through professional scholarship, doctoral dissertations, graduate seminars, reading groups, and special projects. We study intellectual history to learn ethics, jurisprudence, politics, economics, and moral psychology.

For more information about the Adam Smith Program and its events (i.e. seminars and reading groups) and to subscribe to the Program newsletter see here:

Adam Smith Program

The prudent man always studies seriously and earnestly to understand whatever he professes to understand, and not merely to persuade other people that he understands it; and though his talents may not always be very brilliant, they are always perfectly genuine.

— Adam Smith, Theory of Moral Sentiments
